Ayurvedic texts clearly mention the importance of focusing on the nutritional needs of a children, as they lead a dependent future life.
Mother’s milk provides more nutrition to the child for the first 6 months of their life.
However, after 6 months mother’s milk is not enough to provide and meet all nutritional needs of the baby they have more nutrition like Rich in energy, vitamins and minerals.. After 6 months of age, as and when the secretions in the gastro-intestinal tract become ready to accept other foods, new foods should be introduced gradually according to the child’s appetite included foods fruits.
Good Food Habits:
- Maintain regular meal timings.
- Avoid monotony in meals; change in food variety is usually welcome and will help develop new tastes.
- Food items should be such that child is able handle and manage himself without messing up and difficulty in feeding.
- Avoid use of tinned or canned products, or ready to eat preparations, as child fed on such foods will not accept the simpler homemade foods.
- At least one meal in a day the family should sit and eat together rather than considering it as just another routine affair.
